About the Artist
Lisa Prosser Fine Art
Travel to Grow. Grow as a person. Paint to learn. Grow as an artist!
Little did this Texas artist, Lisa Prosser, know twenty years ago she would be retired from surgical assisting and painting en plein air and loving it so much..let alone being a professional artist. It has been a long trial of patience, perseverance, and lots of practice in artistic workshops with master artists that she respects and admires that has brought her thus far in this new second profession. Each artist that she has studied with has brought a new insight and growth to her work. She feels that it is always important to keep learning and growing as a person and an artist. Being stagnant is not the plan. She loves to travel internationally, especially Italy and paint on location along with anywhere else that God directs her for the challenge.
Drawing at a young age on her family's ranch in East Texas, she never realized that one could actually make a living as an artist. It was just something that was done for fun. It was her favorite pastime besides riding her horse. Her mom always had design magazines around and was always drawing house plans for her dream house. So of course, Lisa was automatically drawn to home design and still is! She feels this helps her with her compositions and colors in her paintings. Her home library is full of art and design books and magazines that inspire her to paint. The curiosity of painting as an adult started as a surprise in a little time killing workshop between work related lectures at a convention. It was enough to spark that love of drawing again and to learn more about painting. It was a very difficult to find time to paint. She would paint on weekends and after her daughter went to bed. After being accepted into several juried fine art festivals with her abstract work, it became a strong driving force to her early retirement and painting full time. Almost two decades later, it has become a driving force for her travels to find that perfect location to set up an easel and start a painting. It can be a very frustrating process. But the possibilities are limitless. That little plein air painting can be taken back to her artist studio and become an inspiration for a more refined and larger painting. Besides landscapes, Lisa also enjoys painting the human form, animals, still-life, and abstractions.
